Blackwood Golf Centre
County Down
The competition brief emphasised the social and environmental aspirations of the project, not a closed club but an open, welcoming facility in a protected pastoral landscape.
In response to the outdoor nature of the game of golf, different buildings, each one specific to its purpose, are grouped around a raised courtyard, which provides views over the landscape.
The curved line of the driving range directs golfers across the bridge to the first tee and back up the ramp to the clubhouse from the eighteenth hole.
