Unfinished Museum

Unfinished Museum is a collaboration between O’Donnell + Tuomey and Joseph Walsh studio, another experiment in our long-standing relationship – previous collaborations have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Galway Arts Festival, American Irish Historical Society New York and at the Glucksman Gallery. Unfinished Museum was exhibited at the RHA Summer Show 2018, where it was awarded the Arthur Gibney Prize for Architecture.

The piece was hand-carved from a single solid block of alabaster. The form is derived from early ideas for the V&A East Museum, London. The architectural concept was abstracted in collaboration with master craftsmen at Joseph Walsh Studio.
