Irish Film Centre

The building accommodates various aspects of film culture. It includes two cinemas, film archive, bookshop, restaurant, bar, education rooms and film production offices. The concept of a ‘culture cluster’ became a pilot project for the subsequent Temple Bar developments.

An accumulation of buildings surrounded a covered yard which when opened to the light became the foyer and focus of the design.

New structures inserted between the old buildings accommodate functions that could not fit within the existing forms. The intention was to extend the public realm of the city into the centre of the urban block.
