Central European University (CEU) is embarking on one of the largest current real estate projects in Hungary with the redevelopment and refurbishment of approximately 30,000 square meters of its campus in downtown Budapest, World Heritage site.

This exciting project combines the innovation and openness that are characteristic of CEU with a commitment to integrate the University with its Hungarian home. The campus will offer a dynamic environment for the diverse people we attract from around the world, while preserving important architectural assets in downtown Budapest and engaging more members of the public.

The four-stages international competition was won by O’Donnell + Tuomey in November. The design incorporates a number of existing historic buildings and courtyards, two new buildings and courtyards and a new route through the city block.
