The bilingual (Hungarian-English) publication includes stunning photos of the building during construction and after completion, as well as portraits of the workers. The publication includes interviews with President and Rector Michael Ignatieff, architects Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey, Campus Redevelopment Director Pal Baross, Hungarian architecture practice M-Teampannon, general contractors Market and Strabag, and Siemens and DVM group. Historical information regarding the buildings compiled by the Cultural Heritage Studies Program at CEU is also included. The environmental aspects of the project featured in the main issue of the magazine.
These new state-of-the-art buildings in downtown Budapest offer high-tech spaces for learning, teaching, research, and the exchange of ideas in line with the University’s commitment to open debate and community engagement. The two buildings, one of which retains its historic façade and interior elements, and both of which feature green technology, represent the completion of Phase 1 of a three-phase campus redevelopment project. Both buildings are part of CEU’s campus along Nador utca in Budapest’s downtown, within a UNESCO World Heritage Site buffer zone.
