Founders

John & Sheila

Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey established O’Donnell+Tuomey in 1988. The practice has an international reputation for cultural, social and educational buildings including the Irish Film Centre, Ranelagh School, Letterfrack Furniture College, Glucksman Gallery Cork, Timberyard Social Housing, Lyric Theatre in Belfast, Saw Swee Hock Student Centre at the LSE and the Central European University in Budapest.

They have been involved in urban design projects including the Temple Bar regeneration in Dublin, the Zuidpoort masterplan in Delft and the Stratford Cultural and Educational District in East London. Both are Professors at University College Dublin and have taught at schools of architecture in the UK and USA including AA, Cambridge, Princeton and Harvard.

Their work has been widely published and exhibited and has received many national and international awards. They were joint recipients of the RIBA Royal Gold Medal 2015.
