We are delighted to announce that Stone Vessel is the winner of the RIAI Special Award for Collaboration between Designers and Craftspersons in the 2024 RIAI Awards.

The awards are given annually to acknowledge achievement in architecture and celebrate the quality of work carried out by RIAI members and the contribution registered architects make to the built environment. Marking the 35th year of the awards, the RIAI announced 20 winners across 9 different categories.

The Stone Vessel is delightful, in all meanings of the word. It is a testament to ‘making’ and a reminder of the origins of Architecture where Architect and craftspeople worked hand in hand to make buildings. The workmanship is of an extraordinary quality and the design, conceived by the Architects and developed by Joseph Walsh’s team, results in a structure that is intriguing. It is in essence a folly, existing not as something driven by meeting a functional need but a celebration of the understanding that making and design are symbiotic activities.
