Lecture in Sydney 06.05.2017
26 April 2017
2017 National Architecture Conference PRAXIS: Process. Propositions. Production.
Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey have been invited to present a lecture at PRAXIS, the 2017 National Architecture Conference in Sydney. Their lecture will conclude the conference on Day 2 at 16:20.
The National Architecture Conference is one of the biggest events of the Australian architecture calendar and 2017 will be no exception as the conference returns to Sydney for the first time in seven years. One of the first events to take place at the brand new International Convention Centre, Sydney designed by HASSELL + Populous, the stimulating conference program has been curated by National President Prof Ken Maher and Prof Helen Lochhead. Their industry expertise and international connections have inspired a program that explores processes of thought, engagement and action: process, propositions and production.
PRAXIS (the process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted) involves thinking and making. Commencing with a thoughtful examination of a theoretical position that informs the process, a pause between thought and action, the conference will examine projects through the lens of design thinking, design process, and design actions. PRAXIS will weave together reflection and action profiling the rich and diverse modes of architectural practice globally in today’s world through the work of renowned practitioners spanning diverse locations and modes of practice.
