2016 Stephen Lawrence Memorial Lecture: The Role of Community in Architecture
This year’s Stephen Lawrence Memorial Lecture will draw together a wealth of experience and knowledge from 5 speakers from within the field of architecture, including Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey who have a particular interest in cultural, social and educational projects. Sheila and John will talk about working as architects on social and community projects, working with a sense of social purpose on places and buildings that invite user participation and civic engagement
The memorial lecture will provide the audience with the opportunity to hear first-hand from the panel of experts on how their community roots have influenced their designs. This panel of experts represent individual architects from the local and wider community, all of whom have been a part of designing, creating and inspiring communities across the world, as well as drawing on inspiration from those very communities, creating a synergy between architect and community.
