A Space for Learning exhibition and lecture

A Space for Learning is an exhibition following an Irish Architecture Foundation ideas competition for Architects and Transition Year Students to collaborate on a design for ‘a space for learning’, leading to the exhibition now on at NCAD Gallery from November 5th 2010 to January 9th 2011.

O’Donnell + Tuomey worked with transition year students from St. Angela’s College Cork. The students looked at ways to use the steep slopes, steps and gardens of the school grounds as learning spaces. Ideas developed in participatory design workshops are displayed in a special cabinet containing sketches and models for outdoor learning spaces in the school orchard. This project runs in parallel with the O’Donnell + Tuomey design for a new school for St. Angela’s.

5 Architects, 5 Proposals lecture will take place on 15th December at Harry Clark Lecture Theatre, NCAD, Dublin.
