The design approach is to enhance the landscape of the campus improving existing facilities and adding new facilities to respond to a developing curriculum. The main aims are to:

    • Consolidate the campus like qualities of the site, linking existing and new structures and amenity space with accessible and enjoyable routes. The campus is conceived as a single learning environment.

    • Provide some order to the carparking facilities on the site, confining parking to the designated parking areas, allowing the main avenue to become a landscaped access route through the site.

    • Improve the legibility and use of existing buildings

    • Provide a series of new outdoor covered and uncovered spaces for students to gather and interact in.

    • To add a series of informal social spaces to promote cross-learning and collaboration

    • To minimise environmental impact with the use of robust high-quality materials, creating a high performing building with minimal energy demand

    • To provide a source of renewable energy for the college.

    • To introduce new improved teaching and learning facilities on a complex site in a manner that enhances the streetscape, respecting the scale and nature of the neighbouring buildings.
